الرواية القصيرة وليمة بابت، تحولت إلى فيلم سينمائي عبر إنتاج دانماركي-فرنسي مشترك وحاز على تقدير الأكاديمية الأميركية عام 1988 كأفضل فيلم أجنبي وجائزة الأكاديمية البريطانية في العام التالي. علاوة على كون (وليمة بابت) من القصص التي خلدت بعض أنواع الطعام الفرنسي الفاخر. إلا أن تلك اللاجئة الفرنسية الشابة، بابت، تحمل سرا آخر، لعله يشعل شموع الشهرة والرومانسية من جديد، في قلب مريمتين مسنتين، تقطنان الشمال الدانماركي البارد ولدت كارين دنسن في الدنمارك عام 1885 وتوفيت بها عام 1962.
