يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن الارتسامات اللطاف في خاطر الحاج إلى أقدس مطاف 1929 حيث كان الأمير شكيب ارسلان يعيش في سويسرا بعيدا عن الوطن عندما عقد العزم على القيام بهذه الرحلة على الديار المقدسة وبدأت الرحلة سنة 1929 في وقت سبقه انتزاع الملك عبد العزيز بن سعود مكة من الشريف حسين سنة 1924 وانطلق الأمير في رحلته من لوزان في سويسرا متجها إلى نابولي الإيطالية ومن ثم إلى بور سعيد مجتازا السويس على بحر رابغ الأحمر ليصل جدة ومنها إلى مكة ومن هناك سيشرع في تجوال على بلدان وأماكن عديدة طالما رغب في الوصول إليها.
