هذا الكتاب يركز على أصل المياه وتأثيرها متناولا أنواعها في الطبيعة وكيفية السيطرة عليها وأساليب الإرواء ووسائط استخدام المياه ودراسة الماء في التراث العربي الإسلامي بدء من القرآن الكريم لما احتواه من آيات تؤكد أهمية المياه للحياة الحضرية والاقتصادية ثم الماء في السنة النبوية الشريفة حيث شرع الرسول (ص) نظاما خاصا وضع فيه الأسس الصحيحة في التعامل مع قضية الماء بارتباطها مع الأرض وسبل الاستفادة منها كما تناول الماء في الفقه والتشريع الإسلامي واللغة والشعر العربي والأمثال.
