هذه الرواية إحدى القصص التراثية التي حفظتها الذاكرة الشعبية. تكشف الرواية عن أدب الضيافة لأهل البادية، فللضيف واجب تعاطي القهوة والتمر لدى فاتحة حضوره وتشريفه. وتشير الرواية إلى ما عليه من كرم الضيافة عند البدو، وأن الضيافة تبلغ مدتها ثلاثة أيام، وهذا تقليد متبع في البيئة العربية الأصيلة، فمثلا يقام في مصر عرس البدو الذي يدوم ثلاثة أيام، ومثل هذا في مناسبات كما القضاء العرفي والطهور والعودة من الحج والعزاء.
