تحكي القصة أنه بعد أن خلق الله تعالى الأرض وما فيها من أنعام وخلق السماوات والكواكب خلق سبحانه الملائكة بعد ذلك شاء أن يخلق ( آدم ) عليه السلام فأخبر الملائكة بذلك ولكن دهش الملائكة لذلك واعتقدوا أن الخلق الجديد سيسفك الدماء ويعيث في الأرض خرابا ودمارا فكان الرد الإلهي عليهم أنكم لا تدرون أين تكمن المصلحة في هذا الحدث ولا تدركون شرف آدم أبي البشر وذريته وبالفعل سوى الله آدم من التراب ثم نفخ فيه من روحه فأصبح يتحرك ويشعر وبعد خلقه علمه الله أسماء المخلوقات كله.
