تحليل عميق لعدد من القضايا الدينية التي طرحت في الصحف المصرية منذ الاحتلال البريطاني لمصر وحتى الحرب العالمية الأولى . وشهدت هذه الفترة بروز مدرسة الإحياء والتجديد الإسلامي التي قادها جمال الدين الأفغاني ومحمد عبده، حيث تزايد دور الدين في المجتمع، أو بمعنى آخر اتجه هذا الدور إلى الحجم الذي كان يشغله في الفكر الإسلامي قبل عصور التراجع الحضاري، فذلك القرن شهد تحديات خارجية تمثلت في الغزوة الاستعمارية للبلدان الإسلامية، واستدعت هذه الظروف تجديد الفكر الإسلامي ليستجيب لها، وليتواءم مع حشد الطاقات لمقاومة التوغل الأجنبي الاقتصادي والسياسي الثقافي.
