\"الجذور\" هي ملحمة عائلة أمريكية غير عادية لرجل يبحث عن أصوله يحكي فيها أليكس هاليي قصة حياة جده الأفريقي كونتا كنتي وكيف تم أسره بواسطة تجار العبيد وبيعه في أمريكا وترجمت إلى 37 لغة وبيع منها أكثر من 50 مليون نسخة وأصبحت أساسا لمسلسل تليفزيوني حمل نفس الاسم حقق نجاحا كبيرا وكشفت الجذور عن الطريقة الهمجية التي مارستها أوروبا في اصطياد الأفارقة وبيعهم كعبيد في أوروبا وأمريكا للعمل بالسخرة في مزارع العبيد دون أن ينالوا أي حقوق آدمية.
