ومن المعروف أن هذا الكتاب القيم يعد أول كتاب جامع لأقوال الأئمة المتقدمين من أهل البيت عليهم السلام في مكة، والمدينة، واليمن، والعراق، وخراسان، وغيرها من البلدان، حتى سماه البعض بـ(جامع آل محمد) إضافة إلى اشتماله على أقوال عدد من كبار الفقهاء المنتمين إلى أهل البيت عليهم السلام، واشتماله أيضا على أقوال عديدة لعدد من الصحابة والتابعين وتابعيهم بما فيهم أئمة المذاهب الأربعة، وهو بهذا يصنف بأنه أول كتاب في الفقه المقارن.
