Overview
ينحدر كل من فريد الأطرش وأسمهان \"آمال\" من آل الأطرش، وهم سلالة الأمير فخر الدين المعني التي نزحت من جنوب الجزيرة العربية إلى لبنان، وفي بداءة القرن الثامن عشر الميلادي، نزح معظمهم إلى جبل حوران حيث استقروا, وكان لهم دور مهم في مقاومة الاحتلال العثماني سنة 1911م، والاحتلال الفرنسي سنة 1923 م. وفي لبنان، في جبل الدروز ولد فريد الأطرش سنة 1917م، عانى حرمان رؤية والده ومن اضطراره إلى التنقل والسفر منذ طفولته، فمن لبنان إلى القاهرة هرباً من الفرنسيين المعتزمين اعتقاله وعائلته انتقاماً لوطنية والدهم الذي قاتل ببسالة ضد ظلم الفرنسيين.
