يتناول كتاب \"قصة أسمهان\" والذي قام بتأليفه \"فوميل لبيب\" في حوالي (286) صفحة من القطع المتوسط موضوع (قصة حياة المطربة أسمهان)، روى فريد الأطرش مولد أخته وظروف مجيئهم إلى مصر وكيف بدأت الغناء وزواجها ثم دخولها عالم الفن وموتها وهذه نبذة عن مولدها، ولدت أسمهان في الخامس والعشرين من شهر نوفمبر/ تشرين الثاني عام 1917, على متن باخرة كانت تقل العائلة من تركيا إلى بيروت, حيث كان والدها الأمير فهد الأطرش مديرا لناحية ديمرجي (Demirci) التركية, إلا أنه اضطر لمغادرة تركيا إثر خلافات مع الحكومة التركية مع بداية هزيمة الأتراك في الحرب العالمية الأولى, أما أمها فهي علياء المنذر لبنانية من حاصبيا, كانت معروفة بصوتها الجميل, إضافة إلى إتقانها العزف على العود، وكانت أسمهان أصغر إخوتها, وهما فؤاد وفريد, أما اسمها الحقيقي فهو \"آمال الأطرش\" وكانت عائلة الأطرش من العائلات الدرزية السورية العريقة.
