كانت لليمن قبل الإسلام علاقات اقتصادية بأقاليم شبه الجزيرة العربية وأقاليم الهلال الخصيب ووادي النيل وغيرها من الأقطار القريبة والبعيدة تلك بعض العلاقات آثارها في بعض الحضارات القديمة. لكن أثر المهاجرين اليمنيين في نشر الحضارة العربية الإسلامية وتوطيدها والدفاع عنها كان أوسع وأقوى وأكثر ثباتا وأبقى أثراً. وحاول المؤلف في هذا الكتاب ان يبين إلى أي مدى كانت مساهمة المهاجرين اليمنيين في الحضارة العربية والإسلامية وبالتالي ما كان لهم من تأثير على الحضارة الإنسانية.
