تدور أحداث هذه الرواية على مشارف ثورة 23 يوليو فى مصر، وهى الثورة التى غيرت الأحداث والوقائع التى كانت مستقرة ثابتة لقرون فى منطقة الشرق الأوسط، وسببت دهشة وصداعا فى أرجاء الغرب. وفى الرواية يتعرف ضابط مصرى، شاب فى الجيش المصرى إلى فتاة أجنبية \"يونانية\"، لها فى ويعشقها عشقا مجنونا، غير أن الظروف تفرق بينهما، ولم تجد الفتاة اليونانية ملاذ تعاستها سوى أن تقترن بزوج يونانى.
