هذا الكتاب هو عبارة عن الرسائل النثرية التي كان قد تبادلها الشاعران الفلسطينيان الكبيران محمود درويش وسميح القاسم، يتقاسمان هموم الوطن والشعر، تعلو فيها قيم الصداقة وقيم الأرض، وتتوسطهما قصائد متبادلة بين الشاعرين منذ فتوتهما الشعرية والزمنية، وقصائد مشتركة. يتألف الكتاب من ثلاثة حزم : الحزمة الأولى، تغريبه (قصيدة)، أسميك نرجسه حول قلبي (قصيدة). الحزمة الثانية، رسالة أولى يتبعها عدد من الرسائل، والحزمة الثالثة، منذ البداية، قبلتي الحجر ورسائل أخرى.
