في هذه الرواية يعيد أوقاي ترياقي أوغلو تشكيل التاريخ روائيا، ويستدرج أحداثه عبر أصول الفن الروائي وآلياته وتقنياته، فبالاستناد إلى المذكرات والوثائق والتواريخ، يعتمد تقنية اليوميات في روايته، ولعل عمله هذا كان ضرورياً في إطار رسم الخلفية التاريخية لأحداث الرواية، أو تسجيل اللحظة التاريخية التي تنطلق منها الرواية في القرن الخامس عشر للميلاد بكل إرهاصاتها وغليانها حتى بدا أن الهم الروائي عنده مسكون بماهية القول وتأريخ الحدث أكثر مما هو مشغول بكيفياته، دون أن يكون ذلك انتقاصا من قدر الرواية.
