تناول الكتاب سيرة أحد حكام فراعنة مصر والذى لم تزد فترة حكمه عن عشرين عاما وهو (إخناتون) والذى ظل طوال فترة حكمه هو وأسرته وأتباعه فى محاولة لتغيير تقاليد دامت أكثر من ألفى عام ويعتبر إخناتون هو الذى قاد الثورة الدينية فى بلاده ولكن للاسف لم تحظ بشعبية فى البلاد وفشلت فى تحقيق أهدافها واختفت غالبية التجديدات عقب موته وكذلك الكثير من المبانى والتماثيل والنقوش الخاصة به تم تدميرها على يد الحكام الذين جاءوا بعده هذا وقد اعتلى إخناتون الحكم عام 1335 ق م وقد إهتم بالاعتناء بالمعابد خاصة بمدينة طيبة والكرنك والفنون والنحت وكتابة الاناشيد والإبتهالات الدينية كما تم إعلان مدينة (إخناتون) رسميا هى عاصمة لمصر بدلا من طيبة وقد عمل على المحافظة على حدود مصر وأمنها وإقامة علاقات جيدة مع الجوار.
