تكمن أهمية كتاب في كونه أول كتاب لعثماني يوضع عن رحلته إلى باريس في مهمة رسمية في العام 1720 سلم خلالها رسائل السلطان العثماني والوزير الصدر الأعظم إلى ملك فرنسا ورجال الدولة لكن المهمة كانت فرصة له للتجول في المدينة ومشاهدة عمرانها ومعالمها الاقتصادية والاجتماعية وملامحها العلمية وهذا كله بالإضافة إلى معاينته أنماط الحياة ومكتوب بسلاسة سياسي يختبر شيئا من اليومي والسلوكي.
