وسع أفق صدقي إسماعيل، مكنه من التكيف مع الظروف التي مرت بها الأمة العربية عبر تاريخها الطويل .. فقام بدراستها وتحليلها والرجوع إلى مصادرها التاريخية والأدبية. ليصوغ منها مقالات ومسرحيات وقصصا وروايات، فيها الكثير من التحولات والعبر والآفاق والرؤى المستقبلية، والشيء الذي يمكن التأكيد عليه أن صدقي إسماعيل لم يضع نفسه وصيا على الجمهور، وكان يتجنب في كتاباته، الرومانسية الذاتية، والمفاهيم الغامضة اللغزية، وكانت الحرية عنده ليست مطلقة، لأنها إذا مورست على أنها كذلك فقد تؤدي إلى فوضى ... أما الأصالة فلا تقوم على إعادة الماضي، كما هو وإنما في جعلها تتعايش مع المستقبل وتعطيه أبعادا جديدة وآفاقا واسعة لا حدود لها..
