على مدى عشرين عاما أطلق الأديب الكبير المرحوم صدقي إسماعيل جريدته العجيبة الساخرة \"الكلب\"، جريدة تكتب وتوزع باليد، مكتوبة شعرا كلها / من الإعلان حتى الخبر والتعليق السياسي، وتصدر كيفما أتفق، لكنها كانت بحق ظاهرة أدبية لافتة، وأهم عملا شعريا ساخرا عرفته صحافتنا المعاصرة. وقد حرضت \"الكلب\" نخبة من نجوم الشعر الساخر فساندوها، وأمدوها أحيانا بالمساهمات، ومنهم غازي أبو عقل وعبد السلام العجيلي ومنصور الرحباني وسليمان العيسي ونجاة قصاب حسن. هذا الكتاب رحلة مانعة تسجل مسيرة هذه الجريدة، وتقدم نماذج وافرة من عطائها الشعري، بقلم الأديبة عواطف الحفار، رفيقة درب صدقي إسماعيل، وشريكة حياته، والشاهدة الأقرب على نبضات قلبه الجميل.
