كانت السيدة حليمة تشعر بإهانة كرامتها فقالت لزوجها أنها لن تبرح المكان سوى بعد أن تحصل على طفل ترضعه فقد تخيلت نفسها في طريق العودة إلى الواحة وقد حملت كل من صديقاتها طفلاً واثنين ، بينهما هي عائدة خالية الوفاض، وقد ينطوي الأمر فيما بعد على بعض السخرية المحتملة أو حتى نظرات الاستعلاء فيما بعد والتي قد تجرح كبريائها وهنا أعلنت السيدة حليمة عن تخليها عن شروطها وقررت القبول بأي طفل سوف يعرضه عليها أهل مكة وفي تلك اللحظة ظهر لها عبد المطلب جد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم تغير حال حليمة في طريق العودة حين حملت النبي بين يديها فقد تدفق الحليب في ثديها واستطاعت إرضاع النبي وابنها وصحت الإتان أنثى الحمار التي كانت تحملها هي وزوجها والطفلين وما لبثت ناقتها أن امتلأ ضرعها بالحليب فقال لها زوجها انتبهي يا حليمة فأنت تحملين نسمة مباركة.
