يضم الكتاب فصولا مختصرة عن انثى عشر شاعرا من شعراء الإمارات الراحلين ممن كتبوا القصيدة البيتية الفصيحة وخلفت قوافيهم عبقا ما زال يتضوع في سماء الأدب في هذه البلاد وبعضهم أيضا كتب القصيدة التفعيلية ومنهم من كتب أيضا قصيدة الشعر النبطي أو الشعبي والكتاب يستعرض عدة شعراء مثل : مبارك أحمد العقيلي (1954-1875)، سالم بن علي العويس (1887-1959)، مبارك بن سيف الناخي (1900-1982)، أحمد بن سلطان بن سليم (1903-1976)، خلفان بن مصبح بن خلفان (1923-1946)، الشيخ صقر بن سلطان القاسمي (1924-1993)، سلطان بن علي العويس (1925-2000)، محمد شريف الشيباني (1930-1998)، د. أحمد آمين المدني (1931-1995)، حمد خليفة بوشهاب (1936-2002)، د. إبراهيم محمود علان (1942-2006)، محمد خليفة بن حاضر (1948-2011) وينتهي الكتاب بملحق به قصائد مختارة للشعراء.
