في هذا الكتاب ديوان لشاعر عريق هو زهير بن أبي سلمى بن باح المزني، نعته عمر بن الخطاب بأنه أشعر الشعراء لأنه كان يتجنب حوشي الشعر، ولم يمدح أحدا إلا بما فيه، وروي كذلك عن عمر أنه كان يقول : \"أشعر الشعراء صاحب من ومن ومن\"، أراد بذلك أبياته الحكمية في معلقته، تلك الأبيات التي تبتدئ بمن.
