يأتي هذا الكتاب بمناسبة مرور تسعين عاما على مولد جمال عبد الناصر بعنوان \"جمال عبد الناصر وعصره من عام 1918م إلى عام 1970م\"، وجمال عبد الناصر شخصية من أهم الشخصيات في تاريجنا الحديث والمعاصر، وهو شخصية قيادية من طراز فريد، وقد ساهم في بناء مصر المعاصرة بإصلاحاته الإجتماعية والإقتصادية وقضائه على الإقطاع وسيطرة رأس المال على الحكم، وهو الذي تحقق على يديه جلاء الإنجليز عن مصر، وهو بطل الإنجازات الكبيرة مثل تأميم قناة السويس وبناء السد العالي، ومساندة حركات التحرير في العالم، وإعادة بناء الجيش بعد حرب 1967م، وحرب الاستنزاف التي كانت مقدمة لحرب 1973.
