ما أن تقرأ لتاريخ المطبوعات والصحف في بلادنا إلا وستجد الاسم البارز في عالم المطبوعات والجرائد والصحف الأسبوعية ومن ثم اليومية، الأستاذ والرائد الإعلامي محمد بن صالح نصيف، أحد عمداء رئاسة التحرير في المملكة العربية السعودية، حيث كانت علاقته بصاحبة الجلالة قد بدأت منذ الحرب العالمية الأولى، وربما كانت له كتابات ومشاركات قبل هذه المرحلة، بيد أن عمله كإداري ومؤسس وكاتب ومحرر بدأ في عهد الشريف حسين-رحمه الله-، حيث أصدر صحيفة بريد الحجاز التي حلت محلها صحيفة أم القرى، ثم أصدر في عهد الملك عبد العزيز -طيب الله ثراه- صحيفة صوت الحجاز التي سميت فيما بعد البلاد السعودية
