تأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب كونه المخطوط الوحيد الذي كتب عن سنجق الزور، الذي هو اليوم محافظة دير الزور، وقد أدرج المؤلف محمد هلال أفندي رحمه الله فيه من الشروحات والتفاصيل مع جعل منه مؤلفا مهما لمعرفة طبيعة ذلك السنجق في فترة النصف الثاني من القرن التاسع عشر للميلاد، حيث تتطرق إلى وصف جغرافية السنجق وأسباب تسميته وعوامل نهوضه وإعماره كذلك وصف المدن الأثرية التي تقع ضمن حدوده كتدمر والرقة والرحبة وقلعة حلبية وزلبية وقلعة جعبر ومسكنة والصالحية وكوكب ثم عرج المؤلف على ذكر العشائر التي تتوطن فيه كذلك العادات والتقاليد والأعمال التي تمارسها تلك العشائر مع نبذة يسيرة عن الملبس والمأكل والمسكن.
