يبدأ الكتاب بفصل عن الطريق إلى 25 يناير 2011 ويرصد فيه الكاتب تجربة المصريين مع الاحتجاجات منذ 18 يناير 1977 وصولا إلى يناير 2011، وكيف وصل الحال ودفع الشعب المصرى إلى ثورته، ثم ينتقل \"عبد المجيد\" عبر فصول الكتاب إلى تتابع أحداث الثورة حتى ينتهى الكتاب، ويتصدر كل فصل من فصول الكتاب جزء من قصيدة شعرية للشعراء العالم العربى والغربى، مثل محمود درويش، والبياتي، وإلوار بيلو، ونيرودا، وإبراهيم داوود، وإبراهيم عبد الفتاح، وغيرهم.
