تشكل العسكرة ظاهرة معروفة في حياة الشعوب ولا سيما الشعب العراقي على وجه التحديد، حيث لم تكن العسكرة فيه نتاج لما حصل بعد عام 2003 ، بل إن هذه الظاهرة برزت معالمها في المجتمع العراقي من عام 1968 وبقيت ملازمة له طيلة العقود الماضية، إلا أنها تتصاعد وتنخفض وفقا لمعايير تختلف باختلاف المرحلة، فحينا ترتبط بقوة السلطة والدولة والعنف السياسي المترتب على ذلك، وحينا آخر تظهر بسبب ضعف الدولة ومؤسساتها الحكومية الضابطة، وعلى ضوء ذلك يقدم هذا الكتاب دراسة حول عسكرة المجتمع.
