المستشرق الهولندي ريهرت دوزي الذي ولع بدراسة العرب والمسلمين في أسبانيا على وجه الخطوط ولعا ظهرت آثاره فيما خلفه من مؤلفات قيمة في هذا المجال ومنها هذا الكتاب الذي نقدمه مترجما لأول مرة لقراء العربية في أجزائه الأربعة التى سايرت العرب منذ البداية خارج الاندلس حتى زالت دولتهم بسقوط غرناطة- آخر معاقلهم-عام 1492 م ملما في أثناء ذلك بالتطورات الاجتماعية والسياسية والاقتصادية التى طرأت على الاندلس ولم ينس أيضا بحث الحال الأدبية في جزء منفرد.
