Overview
يعد الشيخ الجرجاوي هو أول داعية للإسلام في بلاد اليابان في العصر الحديث، حيث قام برحلة إلى اليابان سنة 1906 م للدعوة إلى الإسلام، مسجلا في هذا الكتاب وقائع ومشاهدات تلك الرحلة، فوصف المدن التي مر عليها وذكر شيئا من تاريخها، كما تعرض بالتفصيل لأحوال اليابان آنذاك، واستعرض أنشطته الدعوية وما أسفرت عنه من إسلام الآلاف من اليابانيين في وقت وجيز. وإلى جانب ما تضمنته هذه الرحلة من معلومات تاريخية واجتماعية ودينية قيمة، فإن أهميتها تتجلى أيضا في كونها تعكس سعة ورحابة التكوين الأزهري الذي أفرز أمثال الشيخ علي أحمد الجرجاوي وغيره من الرحالة الأزهريين.
