ونحن في سنوات الطلب ومراحله (الثانوية والليسانس والماجستير والدكتوراه) كان دأبنا وديدننا، إذا أخطأ أحدنا خطأ لغويا صخخنا سمعه، وقرعناه بقولنا : (قد كسرت رأس سيبويه !) فيا سبحان الله، لقد جعل الإسلام ذلك الفارسي سيبويه (عمرو بن عثمان بن قنبر 760 796م) رمزا للغة العربية وعنوانا لها، ومن أخطأ فيها، فكأنما كسر رأسه، وحنينا مني إلى تلك السنوات الخوالي، واعترافا بفضل الإسلام الذي أظل الجميع بمظلته، حتى ما عاد حكرا على أحد، وإقرارا بأن اللغة العربية ليست وقفا على وطن أو جنس، وتقديرا لسيبويه فارس العربية المجلى ولكتابه (الكتاب) الذي له القدح المعلى، آثرت أن أختار ذلك العنوان ؛ أملا ألا نكسر رأس سيبويه، أقصد ألا نخطئ في اللغة العربية كتابة أو نطقا بألفاظ وتراكيب حسبناها عقودا من الزمن صحيحة لا غبار عليها، ولا عيب فيها، فما كان مني في هذا الكتاب إلا أن كشفت عن وجه الصواب فيها وسببه، بشرح موجز وتوضيح مختصر.
