هذا الكتاب يدرس عمل \"سيبويه\" في تحليل العلاقات التي تحكم الجملة الفعلية وتأطير الأسس التي تبنى عليها الجملة الفعلية من أجل فهم النظام النحوي للجملة الفعلية العربية على أساس العلاقات التي تربط بين عناصرها وتحكم معانيها النحوية وبالرغم من الدراسات الكثيرة التي تعمقت في محاولة فهم التراث في ضوء علم اللغة الحديث وبالرغم من الجهود التي بذلت في سبيل فهم النظرية النحوية في كتاب سيبويه في ضوء ما يقدمه الدرس النحوي الحديث ليس ثمة دراسة متخصصة تناولت دراسة \"العلاقات\" في عنصر مهم من عناصر العربية وهو عنصر العلاقات الفعلية كما شرحها إمام النحو سيبويه لذلك، يقوم البحث في هذا الكتاب على دراسة نصوص \"الكتاب\" التي عرض فيها سيبويه مسألة العلاقات الفعلية دراسة وصفية مستفيدا من آلية التحليل اللغوي الحديث.
