تتحدث الرواية عما آلت إليه الأوضاع في فلسطين بعد الانتفاضة الثانية، وانعكاسها على المواطن فتكون \"سهر\" محور الأحداث في الجزء الأول، بينما تنتقل إلى \"مها\" في الجزء الثاني، \"سهر\" تزوجت وما أن تمضي بضع سنوات على زواجها حتى يهاجر الزوج إلى استراليا وهناك يتزوج ويهجرها، وهنا يكون العبء الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والنفسي شديد البأس عليها هذا في الأحوال العادية فبما بالنا أن كانت أحوالها ضمن واقع شعب يرزح تحت الاحتلال والحرب مشتعلة ؟. الرواية بها أحداث كثيرة واللغة المستخدمة في الرواية سهلة يتناولها القارئ بكل يسر حيث يجد ترابط الأحداث من خلال الحبكة وقدرة الكاتبة على السرد فهي تمثل تاريخ روائي أدبي للواقع الفلسطيني في ظل الانتفاضة الثانية وأحداثها قريبة تحاكي الواقع.
