يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن ثورة يوليو 1952 م، أو حركة الضباط الأحرار في مصر على لسان أحد منفذيها وهو مؤلف هذا الكتاب (خالد محيي الدين) ويروي وقائع التخطيط للثورة نظرا لما كان عليه حال مصر آنذاك من الحكم الملكي والاحتلال أو ما يطلق عليه (الاستعمار) البريطاني، ثم وصول الضباط الأحرار للحكم وما حدث بعد ذلك... ينقسم الكتاب إلى 25 فصل منها البدايات، عبد الناصر والإخوان، الخلاف على الزعامة، أكثر من موعد للحركة، من لجنة القيادة إلى مجلس القيادة، مارس الوجه الآخر، والمنفى.
