في هذا الكتاب دراسة تتناول المذاهب في التربية والتطور الذي أحدثه العالم وذلك في أربعة أقسام كل منها في كتاب وهي كالتالي القسم الأول أن يبين كيف كان تدرج التربية في العصور المتقدمة إلى عصر سبنسر، القسم الثاني أوضحنا نشأة سبنسر العلمية لإظهار ما لعصره من الأثرة في تكوين نزعته، وما الموهبة من الأثر في تكوين ثقافته، وما لثقافته من الأثر في تكوين مذهبه الفسلفي، إلى آخرها فصلناه في فهرس من القسم الثاني وفي القسم الثالث تعرضنا إلى بحث رسالة سبنسر في التربية وتحليلها لنوضح کیف كتب رسالته، وما وجهة نظره في استخفافة بثمرة الآداب واللغات القديمة، وأي المعارف أنفس في نظره إلى آخر ما أوردناه في فهرس ذلك القسم أما القسم الرابع وهو الأخير من رسالتنا فقد عقدنا فيه فصولا عن مكانة سبنسر بين المربين.
