المذكرات التي دونها القاوقجي على مراحل كانت السلاح الذي غنمه من الميدان الحربي، وفي الجزء الأول منها يكشف بأمانة إلى جانب التضحيات والبطولات اليد الخفية التي تسير السياسة والأخطاء التي يمكن أن يستوحى منها العبر والدروس، وسيتابع القاوقجي في الجزء الثاني ذكريات الكفاح العربي في فلسطين ونتائجه المؤلمة. والمذكرات ليست بالمعنى الدقيق ترجمة لحياته بل مجموعة ملاحظات اقتطفها من اختبارات طويلة وتجارب عميقة في موضوع القضية العربية، وقد تتضارب حولها الروايات والآراء وتصطبغ بالآراء الذاتية، والأحكام السريعة إلا أنها تصلح مادة للمؤرخين وفي كل ساع لاقتناص الحقيقة.
