يتحدث هذا الكتاب الذي قام بتأليفه (علي بن محمد بن ناصر الريامي) عن الحرب التي حدث بين سلطنة مسقط، وإمامة عمان في الفترة بين 1957 و1959م، وذلك بعد اكتشاف النفط في المنطقة. وتتمركز هذه الحرب في الجبل الأخضر الذي اتخذه الإمام غالب مركزا له ودفاعا من السلطان سعيد بن تيمور. يتكون الكتاب من خمسة فصول رئيسية وفصل تمهيدي، يعنى بجغرافية الجبل الأخضر. فيما تتناول بقية الفصول الحرب ابتداء من الصراع بين الإمامة والسلطنة، مرورا بتفاقم الخلافات وخيار القوة، ثم الخطط العسكرية وفلسفة القتال، ثم نهاية الحرب وسقوط الجبل، وأخيرا آثار الحرب.
