يشتمل هذا السفر على نص ديوان ابن الفارض محققا، ويسبق الديوان ويتصدره دراسة نقدية تضع شعره فى سياق النقد الأدبى الحديث. وقد نهج المحقق منهجا استبعد فيه جيع نسخ الديوان المطبوعة. كذلك نسخ الديوان المخطوطة المتأخرة. ومن ثم فقد اعتمد على النسخ الست التى تبدأ بــ 804 هـ وتنتهى بــ 1097 هـ، حرصا على أن تكون قريبة عهد بعصر الشاعر. كما يؤكد المحقق على القول بقيمة الديوان الأدبية وبأصالة مبدعة الذى اشتركت فى تكوينه بيئات ثلاث : الشام والحجاز، ومصر. يشتمل علي فهارس : فهرس للقوافي، وللأعلام والقبائل، وللبلدان والمواضع ونحوها وفهرس للمصطلحات الصوفية، وفهرس للنباتات والأعشاب.
