كان سبب إصدار هذا الشرح هو أنني عثرت ذات مرة في مكتبتي القديمة علي كتاب اسمه (المدد الفائض عن شرح ديوان سيد عمر بن ًالفارض)، ونظرا لما جاء في مقدمتها من كلام نفيس حول توثيق الديوان، رأيت أن أقيم أودها، وأصحح أخطاءها وأعيد نشرها لمحبي ابن الفارض الذي وصفه معاصره فقالوا (هو العارف بالله تعالي سلطان العاشقين ومربي المريدين المستمد من عطاء وبه الفائض شرف الدين سيدي عمر بن الفارض قدس الله سره وأفاض علينا بره ومنحنا من بعض كراماته ونفعنا بعلومه ومؤلفاته).
