يحاول المؤلف في هذا الكتاب تسليط الضوء على ذاك الإرث المرئي والمسموع الغني والمميز لفلسطين بهدف المساهمة في الحفاظ عليه بالوسائل الحديثة، وتوثيق الذاكرة الجماعية الفلسطينية المهددة دوما في ظل الأوضاع السياسية والمعيشية الصعبة للشعب الفلسطيني، يتناول الكتاب هذا الموضوع من ثلاثة أبواب هي : تاريخ نشوء تلك المواد المرئية والمسموعة، ثم أماكن وجود المجموعات المتناثرة والمتشتتة في أرشيفات العالم وكيفية الوصول إليها، وأخيرا بعض الأساسيات التقنية المعمول بها في مجال الأرشفة الرقمية الحديثة ليساعد في إرشاد العاملين في هذا المجال في العالم العربي.
