يأتي هذا الكتاب ثمرة لخمسة وعشرين عاما من التدريس والبحث والاستقصاء في عالم القياس الاقتصادي، وحب التعمق في طبيعة هذا العلم وفحواه، فقد بدأت تجربتي في هذا العالم المحيط عندما كنت طالبا دارسا للمادة العلمية في جامعة كاليفورنيا، ثم مدرسا لها في جامعة اليرموك وجامعة عمان العربية للدراسات العليا، ومطبقا لمبادئها في التخطيط الاقتصادي عندما عملت في مشروع لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي في عمان، ثم أمينا عاما لوزارة التخطيط في حكومة المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية، ومفوضا في هيئة الأوراق المالية، الأردن.
