كتاب \"اللغة والإنسان\" يتعلق بالكلمة وأهميتها في وجود الإنسان وعلاقتها بثيمات مختلفة تشكل مركزا مهما في حياة الإنسان وحياته الروحية والمادية، وكيف تتغير قيمة وأهمية تلك الثيمات بتغير هذه العلاقة وطبيعتها مع الكلمة واللغة. ومن بين هذه الموضوعات التي تناولها الكتاب اللغة والصوت، اللغة وعالم الكائن النقي، معنى اللغة، الزمن والمكان واللغة، اللغة والشعر. وتهدف إلى التأكيد على روحانية الكلمة، باعتبارها مبدأ الخلق والوجود. فالكلمة واللغة بشكل عام، معطاة للإنسان مسبقا، إنها هدية له، ويتوقف عليه إما العبث بهذه الهدية أو صيانتها وتطويرها بما فيه فائدته وسعادته، حسب تصور الفيسلوف ماكس بيكارد.
