يضم هذا الكتاب قراءة مواطن مسئول ملتزم قضية شعبه من غير أن يتبوأ مسئولية سياسية مباشرة للأحداث السياسية المرافقة لولادة لبنان الكبير سنة 1920 ولمختلف المحطات الأساسية من تاريخ لبنان المعاصر. تفلت فيها الكاتب من اعتبارات ومقتضيات ورقابات عديدة غالبا ما تكبح اقتناعات راسخة وكامنة، ولكنها مؤثرة على سلوك القيادات السياسية والكوادر الإجتماعية اللبنانية من مختلف الطوائف. فنجح بذلك في أن يفسر الكثير من المسائل غير المفهومة في سلوكيات القوى السياسية أو في الواقع العقد الاجتماعية المحكمة بالذهنيات والخلفيات. هذا الكتاب حصيلة وخلاصة أبحاث ومقابلات مع السياسيين شغلوا مناصب مهمة ومتابعة شغوفة للمهندس أرمان عساف مدير شركة constratec للتعهدات الذي عاش الأحداث اللبنانية بكامل فصولها في لبنان. إنه تأريخ لحوادث خمسين عاما نسي أو تناسى العديد من اللاعبين السياسيين معظم عناصرها.
