هذا الكتاب محاولة لمعرفة ما هو غير معروف بالوقائع في تلك الفترة الممتدة من فجر الاستقلال إلى قيام الوحدة. ويبرز الكتاب الدور الذي قام به أبناء جبل العرب من تضحيات وبطولات في مواجهة التحديات التي مرت بهم تاريخيا وإنسانيا، كما يعرض الوقائع الميدانية وما جرته على أبناء الجبل من نكبات مع إطلالة على الماضي وبخاصة ثورة سورية بقيادة سلطان باشا الأطرش القائد العام للثورة السورية الكبرى في قرى الجبل وصولا إلى خروج سلطان باشا إلى عمان وعودته مع رفاقه بعد الانقلاب.
