استلهم الكاتب من شخصية الفتاة اللبنانية التي عشقها وحي مناجاته مع القمر وأراد أن يعلم الطلاب فن البلاغة والإنشاء من خلال تلك المناجاة فالكاتب في هذا الكتاب ينزل القمر من علياء السماء كي يرى فيه صورة المحبوبة بأسلوب يفصح عن نفيس الدر في فن الإنشاء فهو يتخذ من وجه القمر آية يفند فيها دلائل الإعجاز الجمالي في هذا الوجود الرباني فيستنطق بحديثه مع القمر لسان الطالب ببدائع اللفظ الإنشائي وقد وفق الكاتب في اصطفائه للقمر كي يرسم على صفحته إبداع الخالق ويستقي من جماله القيم الإنسانية والأخلاقية والدينية وذلك لأن القمر الساكن في أفق الليل هو خير صديق تودعه النفس آلامها وأحزانها.
