إذا كنت على أرض الإسكندرية المدينة العظيمة لله ونزلت شارع- مقام سيدي عيسى القديس- وسرت بجوار سور كلية سان مارك العتيق ثم عبرت الطريق عند شارع بورسعيد في اتجاه الكورنيش ستجد على يسارك وعلى بعد خطوات معدودة مكتبة عظيمة اسمها الملاذ مكونة من طابقين ملأى عن أخرها بالشعراء والمفكرين والكتاب والنقاد...، فإذا تخطيت وتجاوزت كل هؤلاء وصعدت للطابق العلوي ستجد في أقصى القاعة رجلا في نحو الخمسين من عمره، عملاق الجسد، عيناه زرقاوان في لون البحر العميق، يجلس في استرخاء حذر على كرسي هزاز يدخن البايب بشراهة ويتأمل- من خلال الواجهة الزجاجية- البحر ومقام وضريح مجنون الإسكندرية ثاويا هناك على يساره وسط مقابر الشاطبي الأثرية اليونانية، هذا الرجل هو بمثابة الأب الروحي لهذا المتحف المفتوح.
