في مقدمته لكتابه النادر فريسة أبي ماضي وأما كتابه هذا الفريسة فهو أول كتاب له يصدر عن الأدب الشعبي والتراث الأردني بل أول دراسة عن الشعر الشعبي عموما في الأردن وعن الشعر الشعبي خصوصا فهي دراسة رائدة بكر لم يسبقه أحد عليها فقد صدرت عام 1956 م لها ولعلها كانت سبب شهرة روكس في الأوساط الثقافية والمحافل الأدبية بل أجزم أنها لها دور في شهرته كأديب وباحث ومتابع للأدب عموما والأدب الشعبي خصوصا لأن البحث الذي في هذه الدراسة هو اكتشاف سرقة الشاعر المهجري المشهور أبي ماضي حيث قال روكس إن أبي ماضي قد اختلس قصيده الشاعر علي الرميثي العنزي وهي قصيدة قالها الرميثي عاتب فيها ابن عمه فرواها ظاهر أبو ماضي لابنه إيليا فصاغها إيليا أبو ماضي باللغة الفصيحة .
