لم أكن أريد أن أخبر المقرر بذلك، لكن إلحاح النوم، وتحت ضغط نظرته المتشككة، أخبرته : بقي مشهد واحد في الذاكرة آخر صورة قريبة وواضحة تماما.. أنا في بيتي، أجلس أمام التلفزيون، أشاهد برنامجا وثائقيا عن كرة صغيرة حمراء ناتئة. كرة لا ترى بالعين المجردة، تتجول في شوارع فارغة، تطير بين المدن والدول والقارات تتسلل إلى بيوت الأغنياء والفقراء، والملوك والوزراء، تمتص الهواء من صدورهم، وتحصد الأرواح بالآلاف.. رعب وموت لا ينتهي.. حتى المذيع كان في حجر صحي، لا يعرف إن كان سيموت أو سيحيى.. كنت جزءا من المشهد، أجلس في أحشاء الكاميرا، ألتهم الطعام بشراهة وأبكي بحرقة مدنا عرفت خطوي، وهي تفرغ موتاها بحاويات في مقابر جماعية.. مكبر الصوت : الكرة الأرضية موبوءة، مئات الآلاف من موتى كورونا في الطريق إلى المركز، قادمة من 172 دولة.. لم يبق مكان آمن على الأرض.
