ما أفرغنا فيه الوسع في كتابنا هذا هو تبيان أثر النقل والترجمة على لغة العرب وفكرها قديما، وكذا تأثر اللغة والفكر العربيين بالترجمة حديثا، كاشفين عن كيفية إقحام الترجمة ماضيا وحاضرا العرب في عوالم معرفية جديدة لم يكن لهم بها سابق عهد، وإيقافهم على نتاج عقول غيرهم من الأمم، وفتح أبواب المعارف العلمية لهم، وكيف طفرة بهم إلى ما وراء حدود أفقهم المعرفي، مبرزين للكيفية التي عمل بها النشاط الترجمي على توجيه الممارسة الفكرية عند العرب، وتغيير منحى فكرهم في القديم والحديث. ثم جهدنا بعد ذلك في التدليل على أثر الترجمة على العربية وكيف أدت إلى توسيع أفقها، وكذا كيف أورث أثر الترجمة عل نسقي الفكر العربية تطورا في ألفاظها وتغيرا في عمودها. كل هذا وما يندرج تحته من تفصيلات وتفريعات عملنا على بسطه وتوسيع القول فيه في ثنايا بحثنا هذا.
