أصبح باب مراكش معزولا تحوط به دوريات عسكرية مدججة متأهية لإطلاق رصاصها عند أول حركة تصدر من جهة ما. ووجد أطفال المدارس صعوبة في العودة، فتفرقوا عبر أحياء نائية داخل منازل غير منازل أهاليهم إلى حين هدوء العاصفة. وعند الثانية زوالا كان هناك رجل يهرع في سيره، أحس بجندي يمشي خلفه ظل يتعقبه، فسارع إلى مضاعفة خطواته، حتى فاجأه بإطلاق الرصاص عليه أصابه في ساقه اليمنى وقف على إثرها عاجزا عن السير ... وتتوالى أحداث الرواية.
