قد ارتبط المسرح الجزائري القديم بالمسرح الأمازيغي منذ المرحلة اللاتينية، وهيمنة الرومان سياسيا وعسكريا وثقافيا على نوميديا. ونعني بالمسرح الجزائري القديم ذلك المسرح الذي أنتجه الإنسان الأمازيغي النوميدي، منذ تواجده فوق أرض تامازغا (شمال إفريقيا) أو خارجها. ولايمكن الحديث عن المسرح الأمازيغي إلا إذا أنتجه أو ساهم فيه المبدع الأمازيغي ذاتا ولغة وهوية وموضوعا وقضية. ومن ثم لا يمكن اعتبار المسرح إرثا أو إنتاجا أمازيغيا إلا إذا كانت الذات الأمازيغية حاضرة على مستوى الإبداع والإنتاج أو كانت اللغة الأمازيغية حاضرة على مستوى الكتابة والتشكيل والتوصيل أو كانت الأمازيغية موضوعا وقضية محورية للفرجة المسرحية. سنحاول في هذه الدراسة رصد ماضي المسرح الجزائري وحاضره في ضوء رؤية تاريخية استقرائية، تعتمد على التصنيف والتحقيب والتوثيق والاستنتاج المنطقي والتفسير الحجاجي.
