يتناول الكتاب نقد المعماري في عالمنا العربي حيث يعد احد المعضلات الرئيسية والتي تعيق التطور المعماري المراد، وهي كما ذكرها د-مشاري النعيم في مقال سابق بجريدة الرياض بـ (النقد-التعليم-الممارسة)، وتركيزنا على كل عنصر ومحاولة المساهمة في تطويره ومعرفة السلبيات التي تكتنفه لكي يتم تلافيها مستقبلا ومحاولة تعزيز الايجابيات والانطلاق منها كمدخل لتقوية هذا العنصر أو ذاك.فالحاجة لخطاب نقدي نابع من تجاربنا المعمارية لازال مطلبا رئيسا، يحتاج منا إلى جهود كثيره حتى تتم تغطية وإدارك النقص في هذا الجانب، النقد المعماري يظل الأهم بين هذه العناصر لأنه يدخل في بنية كل عنصر من العناصر الأخرى، ويعتبر أداة تقويم وبناء قبل أن تكون اداة تقويض وهدم، ربما يطال الهدم البنى الفاسدة في الفكر ولكن البناء يعزز من التجارب والخطى الإيجابية ويبرز دورها الذي ربما يخفى على الكثيرين.
